About Us

Hospital Employees’ Union is a registered trade union of health workers. The Union was registered in 1961 under the Trade Unions Act, 1926. The Union consists of health workers working in hospitals, clinics, dispensaries, nursing homes, maternity and child welfare centres etc. It is a recognized union by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi since 1964. HEU has been at forefront in fighting for health workers’ rights. The incessant fight of the Union has ensured many rights to the workers such as enhancement of annually offs from four to eight, payment of uniform allowance, payment of risk allowance to the health workers working in TB and Infectious Diseases hospitals, patient care allowance for health workers, reinstatement of many of our members who were illegally terminated, and regularization of hundreds of temporary/daily wage/ contract workers.

We have our units at

A hospital is an “industry” and covered under labour laws of India.

Hospital workers have a right to form a trade union or join a trade union of their choice.

Private and Government both kind of Hospitals must follow labour laws.

You can join our trade union even if you are working on contract basis.

A hospital workers can raise an industrial dispute in Labour Court/Industrial Tribunal through his union against illegal termination/firing, denial of wages, illegal continuation for long period as temporary employee.

Your main employer may be cheating you by showing you as contractors’ worker and labour law has a solution for that.
